This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing commercial vehicle and trailer manufacturing company based in Manchester. The company designs and manufactures a range of dry goods trailers, rigid body conversions and van conversions supplying major fleet operators and commercial vehicle manufacturers. They are currently looking for a Type Approval Engineer.
THE ROLE
-) You will be responsible for submitting the applications for Vehicle Type Approval documents and ensuring that they are applied for in a timely manner.
-) You must be able to coordinate with and work closely with engineers and sale team to keep them up to date with legislation to ensure on going compliance to gain approvals.
-) You will also be responsible for the “conformity of production file” and will liaise with the vehicle certificate agency regarding audits and its implementation through the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
-) Submitting the applications
-) Uploading documents onto the VCA website for type approval
-) Maintaining and managing the internal documents and paperwork for approvals gained
-) Managing the VOSA application process a related documents
-) Liaising with and building relationships with VCA & VOSA personnel
The role will require day-to-day liaison with internal and external contacts including sales and planning.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE - TYPE APPROVAL ENGINEER
This role is ideally suited to an organised, proactive and self-motivated individual with a systematic approach to engineering and documentation. Suitable candidates will have:
•) Mechanical or Production Engineering Background to minimum HNC level
•) Broad design and draughting & 3D experience an advantage but not essential
•) Experience of and ability to work to deadlines
•) Comfortable with full range of PC office software applications
•) Experience in 9001 or similar quality system is an advantage
•) Experience in whole vehicle type approval is an advantage
You will have good communication skills and the ability to liaise on technical issues with both internal and external contacts.
Salary is negotiable, depending on experiences.
